The Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) has invested in its digital communication resources and launched a brand-new website as well as a new podcast series.

Unveiled yesterday (Monday 29 July), the new website offers the latest advice and help on how to access support including financial assistance, wellbeing tips and specialist advice.

Furthermore, the new podcast series, LTC Talks will showcase people from the industry to share what makes the sector shine.

It will offer insights, guidance and best practices when it comes to caring for team members with nine episodes already confirmed.

Guests are set to include People’s captain founder Greg Bateman sharing his personal journey with mental health as well as nutritionist Jessica O’Dwyer discussing the impact of foods on mental health.

The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) head of comms Molly Davis will also share how workplaces can best assist staff going through the menopause and perimenopause.

Digital resourcing

This comes after the LTC reported an unprecedented 43% rise in calls to its helpline in 2023 compared to the previous year, highlighting the vital role the charity plays in supporting individuals from the sector.

The podcast series aims to provide those working in the trade a chance to listen to the stories of others who may have experienced something similar, in an interactive and engaging way.

Moreover, as part of the new website and podcast plans, the charity has closed app to offer a more consolidated platform where all the information on how to access support is available in one place, aiming to make it easier for those who aren’t in a position to easily use a smartphone a way to view the help available.

LTC CEO Chris Welham, who was appointed in January, said: “We’re excited to launch the new LTC website and podcast series LTC Talks.

“We hope with this brand-new suite of digital resourcing, the charity is in an even better position to deliver on our mission of transforming lives and unleashing potential across this incredible sector.

“The cost-of-living crisis, alongside other worries, has put a burden on many people within the industry and we’re here to show them they don’t have to face it alone."

Available support

He added: “Support is always available through our free, 24/7 helpline and we encourage all businesses and operators to make this known to their staff members by downloading our free assets online and displaying them in store.

“Thanks to everyone who has supported with this launch. I have no doubt the impact on awareness and fundamentally, the number of people accessing support, will be significant.”

Earlier this year (February), the LTC announced a new scheme, which was aimed to recognised people within the hospitality sector who go the extra mile to give a little TLC.

Heart of Hospitality’s long-term goal is to make the industry a more supportive place and raise awareness of the challenges faced by hospitality operators.

Through the campaign, the LTC called on the sector to nominate a friend or colleague who always exceeds expectations and goes the extra mile to support their team and the wider trade.

The first Heart of Hospitality champion was announced as founder and director of The Beautiful Pubs Collective, Sam Hagger.
