Punch Pubs & Co has acquired a traditional town pub, which will form part of the group’s leased and tenanted estate.

The White Swan in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire will see new publican Macauley Bowers take the helm on his first pub venture with Punch.

A traditional pub, the White Swan houses a spacious lounge bar and games area with six letting rooms, as well as private function facilities and a generous outdoor area.

Huge potential

Punch Pubs & Co head of estate development and acquisitions Andrew Cannons said: “We are delighted to welcome Macauley into the Punch family, following the acquisition of the White Swan.

“This fantastic town pub has huge potential and a long-standing reputation within the community.

“We are looking forward to working alongside Macauley to ensure the White Swan continues to thrive for many years to come.”

Operations manager David Hill said the White Swan was already an excellent pub, where the company sees successful future.

Community ties

He added: “I am looking forward to working with Macauley who already has strong ties with the local community, to build a fantastic pub business and welcome the community back through the doors of their local pub.”

In April, the pub company acquired the Milton 3 portfolio, adding 24 pubs in Yorkshire and the north-east to its estate.

Furthermore, Punch also announced in April that three Leicestershire pubs were joining its leased and tenanted sites.

The trio of sites – the Dog & Gun in Syston, the White Bear in Hinckley and the Horse & Trumpet in Sileby were acquired from Steamin’ Billy.

At the time, Punch stated it also had a strong pipeline of acquisitions across the Midlands region.

This was followed by an “encouraging” trading update in May where it posted £165.1m revenue for its second quarter – the 28 weeks ending 25 February 2024.
