The Ropemaker in Emsworth, West Sussex, welcomed customers through the doors on Tuesday 23 July.
Situated on Chichester Harbour, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the former hotel has been transformed into a characterful pub with 43 boutique bedrooms, some of which are dog friendly.
Coastal location
All the bedrooms have been refurbished to incorporate Heartwood’s signature style with quirky nods to the pub’s coastal location and Victorian heritage.
Meanwhile the ground floor has been reconfigured and opened up to create a stylish pub with a central island bar, feature fireplace and a spacious dining room.
Outside, a terrace has been created at the front of the venue while the garden to the rear has been landscaped with additional seating alongside the addition three heated beach huts for private dining.
The award-winning pub, which is backed by Alchemy Partners, opened its first site with bedrooms, the White Horse in Dorking, earlier this year following a £4m refurb, and operates 25 pubs across the Midlands and Southern regions of the UK.
Hugely excited
In addition, the group, which also operates 14 Brasserie Blanc restaurants, has seven further new openings planned for the rest of 2024 and into 2025.
The next site to be launched by Heartwood, which won two awards at the Publican Awards earlier this year, is set to be the White Hart in Lewes, East Sussex, in October.
Heartwood CEO Richard Ferrier said: “Following the successful opening of the White Horse we are hugely excited to be opening our second pub with rooms in Emsworth.
“We have been delighted with the welcome we have received from the Emsworth community and are looking forward to the opening of the three further pubs with rooms scheduled to open in 2024.”
