Ex-Stonegate boss Baker joins Market Taverns
London-based pub operator Market Taverns runs 14 sites from the west of the capital in Putney across to the Market Porter in London Bridge.
Baker, who was commercial director at Stonegate from 2006 to 2023, has an impressive track record in hospitality with more than 35 years’ experience at the forefront of hospitality retailing.
Firmly on the map
Baker was appointed to her first board position at JD Wetherspoon at age 33, where she worked from 1992 to 2005. Following 13 years growing the brand, she joined Stonegate Group as commercial director, commanding the best in procurement and business strategy managing multimillion-pound contracts.
Baker was instrumental in the business growth success that saw the Stonegate business expand from 180 pubs to become the biggest pub company in the UK operating 4,500 businesses.

Cask Marque role
Market Taverns’ 14 pubs in the heart of London include the Lady Ottoline in Bloomsbury, Chelsea gastropub Lots Road and the latest addition to the portfolio is the Spencer Arms, overlooking Putney Common.
Baker is also non-executive director of Cask Marque, the non-profit beer quality control initiative that encompasses pubs and brewers in driving excellence in beer quality.
Baker’s record includes success in strategic business solutions and corporate governance including business strategy, budgeting, planning and negotiating.
She is accomplished at creating value for shareholders, both PLC and private company, through a proactive approach in achieving ambitious targets while developing and motivating exceptional teams.
