The Highwood in Solihull and the Wellington in Bebington near Birkenhead both opened on Friday 24 May, joining the Palmer Tavern in Reading, which opened in March.
Each pub has received a £285,000 investment from Greene King Pub Partners to transform them into Nest Pubs, including new decorations, fixtures and fittings plus new bars, seating and more.
Outside, both pub’s signage and overall presentation have also been upgraded in line with the Nest Pubs look and feel.
Unique identity
The Highwood will be operated by Paul Shakespeare, who previously worked at the pub as a quiz host and DJ, and Hayley Towner, meanwhile experienced operators Michael and Michelle Yates will become the franchisees of the Wellington.
Nest Pubs is the second franchise concept from Greene King Pub Partners, following the success of Hive Pubs, which was launched in 2021 and now has a portfolio of more than 50 sites, and is made of wet-led pubs predominantly located on busy high streets and in communities.
The concept has its own unique identity, look and feel – and each pub shows Sky Sports and TNT Sports as well as regular entertainment and a pizza food offer alongside a great drink selection.
Nest pubs are aimed at those with hospitality management experience who want to run their own business with enhanced support for an in-going cost of just £3,000.
Invest and grow
Franchisees earn through a percentage of the net weekly turnover of their pub, alongside a quarterly percentage of business profits and annual bonuses.
Greene King Pub Partners managing director Dan Robinson said: “Its brilliant to be opening not just one, but two more Nest Pubs. This brings us up to three Nest Pubs overall in what is quite a short space of time.
“We are really excited about the potential of Nest Pubs and will continue with more openings in the coming months.
“Alongside Nest Pubs, we are continuing to invest in and grow Hive Pubs as well as support our leased & tenanted Partners with their brilliant pub businesses.”
