Restaurateurs – the Gladwin Brothers – will open their first pub, in Chelsea, later this year.

The duo’s Local and Wild Restaurant Group will launch the Pig’s Ear in one of the oldest pubs on Old Church Street, in Chelsea.

Described as “celebrating all that is great about British seasonal produce and creative cooking” the new venture will “maintain the traditions of a fine London pub”, according to the company.

It will be led by chef-patron Oliver Gladwin and his restaurateur brother and co-founder Richard Gladwin, and will source English wines from the family’s own vineyard, Nutbourne, in West Sussex.

Bursting with excitement

The brothers wrote on Instagram: “We’ve just acquired the beloved Chelsea Pig pub and we’re bursting with excitement to revamp and reopen its doors very soon.

“While we bid farewell to the Chelsea Pig, we’re filled with nostalgia for its cherished memories and warm atmosphere. But fear not. We’re on a mission to create something truly special in its place.

“We invite each and every one of you to join us on this exciting journey as we breathe new life into this iconic establishment. When our doors swing open once again, we hope to see your familiar faces and welcome you back with open arms to experience the magic of the Pig’s Ear.”

Portfolio of sites

The Pig’s Ear will join the Gladwin’s portfolio of neighbourhood restaurants that include The Shed in Notting Hill, Rabbit in Chelsea, Sussex in Soho and the Black Lamb in Wimbledon.

Earlier this year, the brothers closed their The Fat Badger restaurant in Richmond two years on from its launch, adding they had an “exciting new project in the pipeline”.

Local and Wild Restaurant Group was founded by the Gladwin Brothers in 2012 with a vision of serving local produce sourced from British farmers, country foraging and the surrounding coastline.
