The Somerset-based brewery and pub operator cited a bumper Mother’s Day weekend and the Cheltenham Festival for soaring sales.
Mother’s Day weekend saw the pub group, with sites across the south of England, serve almost 8% more covers than last year with both the Saturday (9 March) and Sunday (10 March) proving equally popular with those celebrating equating to an increase in food sales of over 29%.
Seasonal sale marker
Jayson Perfect, chief operating officer, Liberation Group (owners of Butcombe Pubs & Inns) said: “We’re delighted with such a strong start to the spring-summer season.
“Mother’s Day is a big deal and one of the first seasonal sale markers of the year, so to beat our own past records is something to be very proud of.
“Our chefs and teams worked hard to put together a beautifully curated menu sure to impress mothers everywhere and it paid off. Seeing our pubs full of people enjoying themselves is what we love most and bodes well for the year ahead.”
Similarly, Butcombe Pubs & Inns’ sites in and around Cheltenham were fully booked both in terms of accommodation and dining, with racegoers choosing to stay for the duration of the Cheltenham Festival, which ran from Tuesday 12 to Friday 15 March.
Packed to the rafters
Perfect added: “Our Gloucestershire pubs were packed to the rafters with racing fans from all over the world, here to enjoy everything the iconic Cheltenham Festival has to offer.
“We were delighted to look after them with superb accommodation, excellent food and our award-winning beer and it was great seeing everyone coming together and enjoying themselves.”
Meanwhile, Liberation Group were victorious in the category of Best Managed Pub Company (51+ sites) at the Publican Awards, which took place on Wednesday 27 March.
