Workforce has been created to further support the BII’s members and the wider pub sector by providing advice, information and guidance for their teams and showcasing inspiring career stories from across the industry and beyond.
The BII said it had never been more important to nurture and develop the homegrown talent that exists within the trade.
Sharing stories
Workforce will share stories from across the industry on subjects including professional development, apprenticeships and training in a variety of ways such as blog and podcasts in a bid to promote the welcoming and diverse nature of pubs and help attract and retain the existing talent within the sector.
The trade body has worked with a plethora of organisations and individual experts to create the platform with the BIIAB, Sky Business and the Licensed Traded Charity becoming foundation partners.
Other partners have made their expertise and resources available with HJUK, KAM, HIT Training, The Skills Network, Hospitality Rewards, Only A Pavement Away, Zonal, So Let’s Talk and Essential Cuisine all providing content and support.
Career opportunities
BII chief executive Steve Alton said: “Workforce will be instrumental in creating a free-to-use community for team members from across the sector, enabling their growth and development in our fantastic industry.
“I am incredibly proud we are able to launch this free-to-use platform, promoting the incredible career opportunities that exist for people from all walks of life in the pub sector and supporting BII members as they recruit and nurture the next generation of amazing talent.”
Last week, the BII announced its quarter-finalists for this year’s Licensee of the Year Award with 53 operators battling it out for the title.
More than 300 licensees had been nominated by colleagues, customers and friends and the shortlist had been selected based on their “fantastic applications, coupled with social media and web assessments carried out by the BII team”.
The BII will announce the semi-finalists in April before the shortlist is whittled down to a final six.
