Harbour Beer House to launch in summer
The Harbour Beer House, a new venue in Charlestown, will be opening its doors this summer.
The new concept is a joint venture between two Cornish-born breweries – Harbour Brewing Co and St Austell Brewery.
Both companies have a long history of collaboration with St Austell Brewery, taking a minority share in Harbour Brewing Co in 2022.
Harbour Brewing founder Eddie Lofthouse said: “We’re so excited to be announcing the news about the beer house, in partnership with our friends at St Austell Brewery.
“We’re looking forward to bringing the Harbour brand to life in this new venue, and what better location than Charlestown?
“We’ll be sharing more with our beer fans about what’s in store in the run up to opening night.”
The new Charlestown stie was previously known as the Harbourside Inn.
It is currently undergoing a transformational refurbishment.
The building was damaged last January in a fire which broke out at the Pier House next door.
Exclusive beer from Harbour and limited-edition cask specials will be available at the site, alongside freshly made pizza.
St Austell Brewery area manager Helen Sprason said: “We’re totally transforming the space and breathing new life into the building following the fire which was devastating for our teams at the Pier House and Harbourside, as well as the local community. Harbour Beer House will be all about top tasting beers and showcasing amazing breweries, both here in the South West and beyond.
“It’s exciting to be working with Harbour to introduce a new experience for Charlestown, which is already such a vibrant, popular destination for locals and visitors alike.”
Heartwood Collection opens first pub with rooms
Heartwood Collection has launched its first pub with rooms, the White Horse in Surrey, after a £4m refurbishment.
The historic Grade-II-listed building was acquired by the business in 2023, and dates back to the 13th century.
Located on Dorking high street, the coaching inn now has 56 rooms designed by Inge Watrobski and a 100-cover food-led pub.
Speaking to The Morning Advertiser, Heartwood Inns chief executive Richard Ferrier said he was “very proud” of the team, and the opening also marked a “momentous point” for the company’s history.
He said: “We’ve bitter off a big project because it’s 56 bedrooms, so it’s not a small undertaking for our first stab.
“The local community in Dorking are so excited for us to be there. It’s such a well-known pub locally, and the opening has created a real buzz about it, but also people are really proud to see the pub reinvigorated and they’re really taken us in.”

The Guinea Grill reopens
Young’s pub, the Guinea Grill in Mayfair, central London, has reopened following an expansion.
Located on Bruton Place, the pub has increased its ground floor dining area but an added 60 covers, while upstairs is now home to two new private dining rooms, the Gallery and the Wine Room, seating 12 and 16 respectively.
The new spaces reflect and complement the character of the original pub with homogenised interiors, with claret walls, classic oak furniture and historical paintings.
Original features like the signature meat counter remain untouched.
The Guinea Grill general manager Cristiano Pellizzari said: “Due to the popularity of the pub and dining demand from our guests, we are delighted to have been able to expand the Guinea Grill to accommodate for further bookings without losing any of the pub’s conviviality and charm.
“As one of London’s oldest pubs and steakhouses, it is a landmark site and an integral part of the capital’s pub scene, and the team and I are looking forward to welcoming back our guests for a pint at the bar.”
Led by head chef Thiago Brigidi, diners can expect a British menu spotlighting beef supplied by butchers Godfreys.
Dishes include beef cuts from Porterhouse and Chateaubriand to Côte de Boeuf, as well as pies like the beef, oyster & Guiness pie.
The pub will offer a selection of beers and ales, including Young’s Original and Guiness, alongside cocktails and a global wine list.
