International Women’s Day celebrates women’s achievements , raise awareness about discrimination and calls for action to be taken to drive gender parity.
The day itself belongs to everyone, everywhere with inclusion meaning all International Women’s Day action is valid.
Inclusion inspiration
In fact, this year’s theme is #InspireInclusion and we’ve spoken to a range of incredible women from across the sector to find out what this means to them including making a brilliant space for all, inspiring others to ensuring every woman feels respected and more.
International Women's Day:
For me, it means to demonstrate the sector is somewhere everyone deserves to feel safe, whether that be staff or guests, regardless of who they are.
The industry and society as a whole has come so far on this and is something which in my experience, the sector is great at and is, generally, a place for all but there is still work to do.
Supportive sector
Women in senior leadership roles, many of whom we’ve spoken to today, also give those starting out in the industry role models to aspire to and gives them hope that while the glass ceiling is still around, it is possible to break it and make it to the top.
This is a sector that is inspiring and supportive and it’s time more women celebrated the incredible achievements being made.
