JD Wetherspoon (JDW) has signed an exclusive agreement with UK holiday park operator, Haven, meaning it can operate at its parks.

The agreement makes Haven the first and only UK holiday park operator to enter a commercial partnership with the pub company.

Around £1.1m is being ploughed into the first JDW pub which will open at Haven Primrose Valley holiday park in North Yorkshire.

The first pint is set to be pulled in March.

The deal forms part of the £4m investment being made to expand Haven’s food and beverage offering in 2024.

JDW joins other companies operating at Haven’s 41 parks including Burger King, Papa Johns, Slim Chickens, Costa Coffee, Millie’s Cookies and Chopstix.

JDW commercial director Michael Barron said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Haven and are confident that the pub will prove popular with holidaymakers.”

Food & drink growth

Haven chief operating officer Peter Blake said the company was “thrilled” to be the first holiday provider to partner with the pubco.

“This new venture underlines our dedication to growing our food and beverage partnerships and offering for our holidaymakers and holiday homeowners,” he added.

Haven was acquired by Blackstone in 2021.

On Tuesday 9 January, JDW opened a new pub near Euston Station, central London.

London's calling

The Tim Martin-chaired company has spent £2.3m developing the outlet that was the SophistiCats club on the corner of Eversholt Street and Doric Way.

The new pub, which will be called The Captain Flinders, will be managed by Samantha Pugh.

The Captain Flinders will be open from 6.30am until midnight Sunday to Thursday and from 6.30am until 1am on Friday and Saturday.

Food will be served throughout the day from opening until 11pm every day and children are welcome until 9pm.

The bespoke carpet, fitted throughout the pub, draws its design inspiration from Euston Station, with cable patterns, as well as hidden cat faces to celebrate his cat Trim who accompanied him on his expeditions.
