Greene King to launch Seared concept in New Year
The Castle in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, is set to reopen on Monday 8 January 2024 after a significant investment.
The seven-figure refurbishment combines the pub’s heritage with flavours from all corners of the globe including Turkey, India, Korea and Spain, responding to a demand for new flavours and world cuisines.
Dishes on offer will include South American steak and Korean fried chicken burgers as well as British pub staples like Hunter’s chicken and fish & chips.
Greene King brand director Natalia Perez said: “We’re dedicated to bringing new and exciting experiences to our guests all over the country, and we can’t wait to launch our latest concept, Seared, at The Castle in January."
Global food trends
She added: “Following a huge appetite for global food trends over recent years, Seared will offer the chance to experience a world of flavours in the relaxed setting of a much-loved local pub. For our guests living in Droitwich Spa and wider Worcestershire, this gives them the opportunity to enjoy a huge range of cuisines and dishes, right on their doorstep.
“Our guests can expect vibrant interiors and globally inspired, affordable dishes that pair perfectly with new international draught lagers, cocktails and soft drinks.”
A new interior will also be unveiled at the pub, taking inspiration from travelling the world. It will include elevated areas for drinking and dining, spaces to watch live sport and play pool, as well as a new outdoor area.
Exciting launch
The new investment has created an additional 20 jobs for the local area, alongside retaining the majority of the Castle’s previous pub team.
Rebecca Hall, general manager of the Castle, added: “We’re excited to finally open our doors once again in January and for our customers to enjoy a taste of something different, and unlike anything else we have in and around Droitwich, in the New Year.
“Whether you’re a returning regular or a new guest ready to discover the food and drink on offer, the Castle remains a local community pub at heart, and we’ll continue to offer a warm welcome to all, no matter the occasion.”
