The Bush Inn, Aberdare, South Wales, reopened on Thursday 7 December after a major investment from Admiral Taverns of £250,000.

The venue is part of the company’s Proper Pubs division and has undergone a complete interior refurbishment, boasting a new look with fresh décor. The pub has a new bar, flooring and furniture throughout.

Customers flocked to the pub on Thursday for the opening night, followed by a weekend of live music, karaoke and a DJ as well as live sports.

The Bush Inn operator Delith May said:  “Opening night was fantastic, it was amazing to see all our customers, old and new, coming to see what the pub has to offer.

“The feedback we received from our community was amazing, and we can’t wait to see them again soon.”

The pub provides a wide range of drink offers, including cocktails, wine and fizz promotions, as well as a full sports package of Sky Sports, TNT Sports and Horse Racing.

Customers can also expect to enjoy regular weekend entertainment, such as Karaoke and DJ nights.

May is keen to support local causes, including the local foodbank and will be initially aiming to raise money to install a lifesaving defibrillator at the Bush Inn.

Matthew Gurney, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, said: “The refurbishment at The Bush Inn looks fantastic – the team has worked really hard to ensure it is a success for the local community.

“On behalf of the Proper Pubs team, we would like to wish our community hero, Delith, every success for the future in making the Bush Inn a fantastic hub of the community.”

Admiral Taverns has opened the 200th site in its Proper Pubs division in time for Christmas on Friday 1 December.

The community-wet led operator division of Admiral was launched in August 2021, and the group has invested more than £10m into its estate to support its local communities, which includes opening 32 pubs, with 17 coming in the past two months alone.

The Chrystal Bell, in Gallowgate, Glasgow, opened its doors after a £220,000 investment and further investment is planned for 2024.

Proper Pubs director Mark Brooke said: “This poignant milestone marks a very proud moment for our team. We have experienced continuous growth in 2023, which is testament to the hard work from everyone, including all our dedicated operators.”

The Gallowgate pub has undergone a complete interior and exterior transformation under the stewardship Angi McKean, who has plenty of experience in the hospitality sector.
