Chef Dominic Chapman is moving on from his highly-rated The Beehive pub in Berkshire having sold on the lease to Tangy Treat Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

The former The Fat Duck chef has had a successful nine years at the White Waltham pub. The venue has been a regular on the Top 50 Gastropubs list (it is currently ranked 16, but has been listed as high as six), received a cooking score of six in the Good Food Guide, two AA Rosettes and dining pub of the year in the Good Pub Guide.

Chapman will continue to run the nearby the Crown at Burchett’s Green – which he acquired last year from fellow chef Simon Bonwick – and has also teased a new project.

Chapman said: “It has been a huge honour to run the Beehive so successfully for so long. We’ve made some incredible friends during our time here and really enjoyed being part of our little community”.

“Our lease was coming to an end so it felt like the right time to look at exploring some new opportunities.

“While we are sad to be leaving the Beehive, we are delighted that so many of our guests have joined us at our new venture at The Crown, just down the road."

The Beehive will remain open under the new ownership.

Barry Alldread of Davey Co, which brokered the deal, said: “We are proud to have acted in the original sale of the Beehive to Dominic some years ago, acted for Simon Bonwick in the sale of the Crown Burchetts Green to Dominic last year and have now completed the loop having brokered the sale of The Beehive for Dominic to Tasty Treat Ltd.”
