Meet the brand: Rosa Blanca, the beer of Mallorca, comes to the UK
The exclusive UK version has all the excellent flavour of Rosa Blanca and an alcohol content of 3.4% alcohol by volume (ABV). It is available in bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
Rosa Blanca is brewed with the traditional ingredients of a lager: barley malt, maize, rice and hops. It is a well-balanced, creamy beer with hints of lightly roasted cereals. What makes Rosa Blanca different is that aromatic Citra hops are added towards the end of brewing, giving the beer of Mallorca its characteristic fruity aroma, citrus notes and a pleasant, mild bitterness.
Day 2 @imbibeuk. If the show is representative we’re going to be drinking more tequila/mezcal, Italian aperativo and sake. Interesting to see a lot of noise in beer around the 3% mark with new legislation next month. This one hits the spot…. pic.twitter.com/RZ7LsmbMMO

The origins of Rosa Blanca date back to 1927, when the brewery of the same name was founded. Rosa Blanca was an independent brewery in Mallorca that refreshed locals with Pilsen, Munich and Bock Balear beers for many decades.
However, the island’s tourist boom in the 1960s attracted large international brewers; Rosa Blanca struggled to compete with them, until it went out of business at the end of the 1990s. In 2018, Damm decided to relaunch the brand and revive the long tradition of Rosa Blanca. It has since grown ever more popular again on the island where it was born almost 100 years ago.
With over 2 million visitors every year, Mallorca is one of the favourite holiday destinations of the British, making the UK the perfect export market for Rosa Blanca. The beer of Mallorca will be adapted to the British market as a premium beer in the under 3.5% ABV segment.
Brewed in Spain, Rosa Blanca will be distributed in the UK through Damm’s British subsidiary and will be available in three different formats: 30-litre kegs, 440ml cans, 330ml cans and 660ml bottles. The Mallorcan lager is already being served in pubs and restaurants including Fazenda Group and Pivovar Pubs with the beer to be launched in Metropolitan Pub Co next month, as well as a plethora of independent wholesalers and will be available in supermarkets from October.
Tasting notes
Rosa Blanca is a pale golden beer with a light, cream-coloured head. The fresh aroma of Citra hops, a characteristic hint of citrus and notes of stone fruit make Rosa Blanca a very refreshing beer.
In the mouth, Rosa Blanca is balanced and harmonious: the mild, malty sweetness combining with a soft bitterness. The mouthfeel is creamy and pleasant. It is best enjoyed between 5º and 7ºC.
