What has happened to Brew by Numbers?
Craft beer darlings Brew by Numbers has gone into administration citing a combination of the pandemic and escalating prices.

The London-based brewery, which is listed in the Top 100 Breweries in the World by RateBeer, has appointed Finbarr O’Connell and Colin Hardman of Everlyn Partners LLP as join administrators.

Prior to the move, Brew by Numbers, which originally opened as a micro-brewery at the heart of the “Bermondsey Beer Mile”, had moved their main production to a new brewery in Morden Wharf, Greenwich, in 2021, and added a 400-capacity taproom on the banks of the River Thames.

Founded by Dave Seymour and Tom Hutchings in 2011 and went onto release over 350 different beers across a range of styles, becoming one of the better known brewers in the craft beer movement.

The brewery currently remains trading while the administrators conduct a sale process of the business.

O’Connell, said: “Brew by Numbers is renowned for their offerings of high-quality and distinctive beers. As Joint Administrators, our primary objective is to preserve the company's operations and ensure the continuity of employment for its dedicated workforce.

“We remain committed to overseeing the operations of Brew by Numbers whilst conducting a sale process to pursue a resolution that maximises value and ensures the continued success of the business.”

Hardman added: “Craft breweries are increasingly finding that they need to reassess their pricing strategies and explore avenues for improving cost efficiencies without compromising the quality that sets them apart.

“Collaborations and partnerships within the industry could provide opportunities for mutual growth and help address the financial challenges collectively. This brewery is very popular amongst its customers, as such we anticipate a lot of interest in acquiring this iconic brand.”
