Cheers to that: Take dad to the pub this Father's Day
Father's Day is just around the corner (Sunday 18 June). We took a look at how pubs across the country are celebrating the special occasion.

1. The Oarsman, Marlow, Buckinghamshire

The team at the Oarsman are joining forces with fellow site Harrow & Hope to mark the special day. The bistro-pub & wine bar is the perfect setting to celebrate, with a range of specials on offer.

These include Oarsman spicy fried chicken with lime & coriander, and Chateaubriand with Béarnaise to share.

The pub menu is also filled with plenty of bar snacks and dishes to enjoy in the sun on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but if you can’t make it to the pub, there are also gift vouchers available, making for the perfect gift.

2. Dylans at the Kings Arms, St Albans, Hertfordshire

Dylans is a gem for foodie fathers. There’re a number of specials on offer for Father’s Day, including lamb shank and mint pie plus whipped potato, lamb sauce, and there’s also a Beef Wellington on offer too.

The gastropub is situated in St Albans and is a small but perfectly formed gastropub to please diners of every taste and such a well-stocked drinks range. The pub was awarded the Front of House Team of the Year accolade in 2022, so you know service will be top tier.

3. Freemasons at Wiswell, Clitheroe, Lancashire

The Freemasons at Wiswell, which takes third spot on the Top 50 Gastropub list, is offering a three-course menu for £55 each on Father’s Day.

The sample menu kicks off with bread and butter, with starters including Veloute of Spring soup with pickled ceps, house cured salmon with house pickles, iced sour cream, potted shrimp & Nori crumpet, and seafood gratin cooked in champagne & chive cream with a Berkswell cheese crust.

Moving on to mains, there’s Lancashire 60 day aged roasted sirloin beef with all the trimmings, Yorkshire pudding, duck fat potato and cauliflower cheese, Then there’s Nidderdale lamb or Morecambe Bay cod, with a variety of sides, or the organic salmon roast loin with saffron potato, warm fennel & caper salad.

Then there are desserts, which include chocolate cheesecake, sour cherry Bakewell tart and a selection of British artisan cheeses complete with biscuits.

4. Parlour, Kensal, south London

There’s also a fantastic roast offering on offer at Parlour in Kensal Green. The menu, running from midday on Sunday until 10pm, will include sirloin of Shorthorn beef with fresh horseradish, brined & roasted Goosnargh Chicken with bread sauce and Paddock Farm Tamworth pork with Bramley apple & sage.

Head chef Jesse Dunford Wood believes in only the best sourced food, cooked using the very best skills. He advocates for local and neighbourhood life.

5. The Abbey Tavern, Kentish Town, north-west London

Dads can bag their first pint on the house at this London pub.

Alfresco drinks and Sunday roasts are also on offer all day, and can be enjoyed in the sun in the pub's garden and terrace.
