Personnel change: David Haworth is to be replaced by Julia Massies from September this year

Managing director of Pernod Ricard UK David Haworth is set to retire later this year after a career of more than three decades at the business.

Haworth will be retiring at the end of August after being at the company for 34 years in multiple markets and leadership roles.

Joining the group in 1989, Haworth began his career with the business at Irish Distillers and led a team of more than 300 members.

He will be replaced by current chief financial officer of Pernod Ricard EMEA & LATAM Julia Massies.

Long-term resilience

On his departure, Haworth said: “It has been a privilege to work with so many talented people over so many years and now is a good time to do something else.

“I’m confident in the long-term resilience of the UK market and the team – led now by Julia – will maintain market momentum for PRUK with the support of an exceptional group of colleagues.”

From 1 September, Massies will become managing director of Pernod Ricard UK. She joined Pernod Ricard in 2001 as business development manager after five years consulting in the UK, Brazil and France.

Since then, she has held various senior finance roles at the UK arm of the business and at Pernod Ricard HQ as VP, financial communication and investor relations before she was promoted to chief financial officers of Pernod Ricard EMEA & LATAM two years ago.

Company roadmaps

Massies said she was thrilled to be joining the UK team as managing director and had many fond memories from previously working in the UK.

She added: “I can’t wait to get to know all our colleagues in the business, our customers and our consumers.

“Together we will build on David’s legacy of winning in market while delivering our ambitious diversity and environmental roadmaps.”
