Bathtub Gin releases latest seasonal flavour

Award-winning craft gin brand, Bathtub Gin, has announced the release of its latest seasonal variant, Persian Lime & Orange Blossom (43.3% ABV).

The newest expression from the Kent-based distiller offers notes of pine, juniper and citrus on the nose followed by the character of Bathtub's original gin, bolstered by citrus blossoms, floral Earl Grey tea and lime boiled sweets on the palate with a cardamom and clove perfumed finish, best served in a G&T or mixed with bitter lemon.

Bathtub Gin global brand manager Hannah Burden-Teh said: “The inspiration for this flavour follows on from the trend we discovered during our first flavour competition.

"For this expression we elevated classic lime with orange blossom to complement the fresh zestiness with sweet floral notes. Endlessly elegant from start to finish, perfect for adding summer flavours to G&Ts and cocktails.”

Bathtub Gin Persian Lime & Orange Blossom is available now from Master of Malt at RRP £32.95.

Serving suggestion: Persian Lime & Orange Blossom Martini

Ingredients: 

  • 60ml Bathtub Gin Persian Lime & Orange Blossom
  • 30ml Lillet Blanc

Method:

  • Add both ingredients to a mixing glass with ice
  • Stir for at least 15 seconds
  • Strain into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with lemon oils and zest

Camden Town Brewery announces new Stout

Available exclusively in the on-trade, Camden Town Brewery has announced the release of its latest variant, Camden Stout (4% ABV).

Jet black with a thick head, the brand described the new serve as fresh, smooth and creamy with berry hop flavours and a coffee-like finish alongside nitrogen bubbles and moderate carbonation to balance the smoothness of the sessionable Stout.

Camden Town Brewery head of marketing Fred Nesbitt said: "At Camden Town Brewery, we’re all about looking at the world with fresh eyes, so this has been the perfect opportunity to put that into practice and inject some character into the stout category.

"We have a great record with our Hells and Pale Ale of adding extra value to the beer industry and we have been working on this one in the background for a long time. Our Stout is smooth and creamy with a fresh finish, and without being big headed we think it’s the freshest stout around."

Otter Brewery introduces new beer style

Devon-based Otter Brewery claims to have launched a new category of beer “bridging the gap between craft, cask and lager” with the release of its latest variant, Amber Fresh.

The family-run company said its Fresh Ale is a “new form” of ale, brewed the same way as its other cask beers but, rather than being filled into a cask, the beer is gently carbonated before being racked into a keg. 

Otter Brewery’s Fresh Ale (4% ABV) is dispensed at a slightly cooler temperature than traditional cask ale but not as cold as a kegged beer.

The brewer said the beer is also given a light carbonation “allowing the beer to remain true to its cask ale equivalent in taste and body”.

In addition, Otter claimed because the beer has been filtered, the ale remains in “perfect condition” for weeks rather than days, which it cited as an important factor in the current economic environment.

Otter Brewery managing director Patrick McCaig said: “Our Fresh Ale concept arrives at a time when customers are searching out drinks that are flavoursome, gently carbonated and slightly cooler than traditional cask ale.

“Our first beer in this category, Amber Fresh, has been developed to help both revive and energise the ale sector (including cask) giving drinkers of all ages the confidence of quality when making their bar call.”

Salcombe Gin partners with Royal Ocean Racing Club

Salcombe Distilling Co. and the Royal Ocean Racing Club have released a collaborative special edition gin, Start Point – Offshore Strength (50% ABV).

Inspired by the coastal vitality of Salcombe and its shipbuilding heritage, the new serve is a higher strength expression of Salcombe’s Start Point gin and is a classic, citrus led London Dry Gin with notes of red grapefruit and juniper.

Start Point – Offshore Strength is availble in 70cl bottle format at RRP £50 direct from both brand’s webshops with 1% of revenue donated to ocean recovery projects supporting the regeneration of life in UK seas.

Salcombe Distilling co-founder and director Howard Davies said: “As a lifelong sailor I can’t put into words how thrilled I am for Salcombe Gin to be partnering with the Royal Ocean Racing Club.

“The idea behind Salcombe Gin began with a sundowner G&T after a day’s sailing, so to create this ‘Offshore Strength’ version of our award winning ‘Start Point’ gin is something we’re seriously excited about.

Seven Bro7hers announces first Helles lager

Seven Bro7hers Brewing Co has announced the launch of its first ever Helles Lager (4.6% ABV).

Joining the brand's core range, the new serve is a bright and golden lager offering aromas of nutty biscuit sweetness with honey on the nose followed by notes of lightly toasted bread, malts and bubbles on the palate.

Seven Bro7hers Brewing Co CEO Keith McAvoy said: “We believe it is important our core range remains fresh and relevant, so we have given it a small shake up based on consumer trends and customer feedback.

“Helles Lager is growing rapidly popularity as the UK’s go-to session beer – it is exciting to put our spin on it as we evolve our core range.”

Seven Bro7hers Helles Lager is available now from the brand's webshop in in 330ml can format at RRP £2.20 per an or in multiple buy bundles, including RPP £41.95 for a pack of 12.

The brand has also recently released a new Pineapple Ale variant (5% abv), which is also vegan, available now until November in 440ml can format exclusively at Asda for RRP £3 per serve or from the brewery's beer houses.

Jam Shed introduces cocktail kits for the on-trade

Accolade Wines has introduced a new Jam Shed ‘Jamgria’ cocktail kit to boost sales in the on-trade.

The brand claimed its Jamgria kits and recipes would appeal to younger drinkers who are searching for something fun and exciting to try this summer.

Aims to recruit new drinkers to the wine category through wine cocktails, the kit uses the brand’s Jam Shed Shiraz along with four key ingredients already typically stocked behind the bar.

Described as an alternative to sangria, Jam Shed added the serve is “quick and easy” for outlets to create.

Each kit contains everything needed to create the cocktail, with branded items including drinking jam jars, pitchers, bunting and coasters, as well as an assortment of POS to bring the vision to life.

Black Sheep Brewery expands core range

Masham-based Black Sheep Brewery has expanded its core cask range with the addition of Blonde (3.7% ABV).

Described as a bright, refreshing and citrusy, Blonde is built on a light, bready malt base with British Maris Otter, with layered up notes of lemon, bitter grapefruit and sweet orange alongisde Celeia, Cascade and Amarillo hops.

Wye Valley Meadery and Hive Mind Brewery launch new sparkling mead cans

Wye Valley Meadery and Hive Mind Brewery have joined forces to rebrand under a new name, The Hive Mind Mead & Brew Co.

As part of the rebrand, the company has also launched a new range of Hive Mind Sparkling Mead cans (4% ABV), available in four flavours: ginger, elderflower, rhubarb and pure honey.

In addition, two more flavours, sour cherry and honey & hops, will also soon be added to the range.

Hive Mind Meadery co-founder Kit Newell said: “It may be the world’s oldest alcoholic drink, but modern mead can stand head-to-head with beers, wines or spirits for its range of flavour profiles, as a base for cocktails or as a different option for food pairing.

“Our ambition is to use the new Hive Mind brand to help more people to discover this amazing natural drink, and support honeybees in the process.”

Joining the Hive range, which also includes a traditional mead and a variety of honey beers, the new serve is gluten free, made with natural ingredients and uses British honey, including honey from the firm’s hives in in Wye Valley.

The Hive Mind Sparkling Mead range is availble now in 330ml can format at RRP £3.80 per individual serve and £15 per four-pack from the brand’s website, as well as in 30l keg from specialist drinks distributors.
