Daniel Thwaites tenants toast 20th anniversary
On Tuesday 23 May, Phil and Bernadette Price will mark two-decades at the helm of the Sun pub in Blackburn, which is owned by pub operator and brewer Daniel Thwaites.
Jointly the operators, who run two Daniel Thwaites sites, have steered both the Sun and the Fox & Hound in Ewood through various challenges, from the smoking ban to Covid restrictions.
Key to success
The licensees said: “Despite the challenges the industry has faced over the past 20 years, the Sun has remained an integral part of the Blackburn community.
“Knowing your customers and being the face of the business is the key to its success. We can’t wait to celebrate with all our loyal customers and look forward to many more years here at the Sun.”
The pubco, which has more than 200 sites nationwide, described the Sun as “the heart of the Blackburn community” with a "lasting reputation", thanks to the hard work and determination of its long-serving tenants.
Moreover, the Sun is well known in the area for its award-winning ales, live music, events and strong community spirit.
An honour
To commemorate Phil and Bernadette, who have also raised three children at the pub, Daniel Thwaites will present the tenants with an honorary plaque and an all-expenses paid trip to one of their four or five-star hotels and inns.
Daniel Thwaites director of pubs and brewing Andrew Buchanan said: “It’s an honour to acknowledge Phil and Bernadette’s success over the last 20 years.
“Famous for their humour, it’s my pleasure to present them with a well-deserved getaway to mark their incredible achievement. They truly are the spirit of the Sun, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.”
