Theakston celebrates King's coronation with new beer
Brewer T&R Theakston is raising a pint in celebration of the seventh coronation in its almost 200-year history with the launch of a special edition beer for King Charles III.
Crowning Glory, a 4.2% ABV speciality regal gold beer, has been crafted using a grist of British Pale and Crystal malt “to give a gloriously robust character” while the business claims the beer features a “honeyed, blackcurrant sweetness that is perfectly balanced by premium English hops, which provide subtle citrussy spiced cedar overtones”.
The beer continues the brewery’s tradition of creating limited edition ales to celebrate Royal occasions. It joins a distinguished lineage including Celebration Ale which marked Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977 and most recently, Royal Salute, which commemorated the Diamond and Platinum Jubilees in 2012 and 2022.
Theakston Brewery joint managing director Simon Theakston said: “As a brewery, we’re immensely proud of our almost 200-year heritage and it’s fascinating to consider that as a business we have been witness to nine monarchs and seven coronations.”
In addition to being available to pubs across the UK, Theakston is also creating a limited-edition bottle run of the beer, which will be available to purchase from the brewery’s visitor centre in Masham, North Yorkshire, and its online store.

Whitebox expands RTD cocktail range
Whitebox cocktails has expanded its range of RTD serves with the release of Tine Tee’s Dirty Martini (34.6% ABV).
The latest innovation from the team of award-winning bartenders combines smooth, charcoal-filtered British wheat vodka with herbaceous dry vermouth and green olive brine, presented in Tiny Tee’s trademark 100ml white cans.
Simply store in the freezer for 4-24 hours before serving in a Nick & Nora or Martini glass with an olive garnish.
Whitebox Cocktails co-founder Alex Lawrence said: “Despite having just a few ingredients, a great Martini can be hard to make, so there is a huge benefit in the single serve format.
“We spent months carefully balancing the recipe so people can serve it within a few seconds, confident it stands up to the quality expected from the word’s best bars.”
The new serve is available now in 6x100ml cases at RRP £30 direct from the brands webshop or in single serve 100ml cans at RRP £6.
Whitebox Cocktails co-founder Ben Iravani said: “I am excited to add this to our growing selection of classic cocktails.
“A Dirty Martini is a great classic drink because it combines the timeless appeal of a traditional Martini with the savoury and salty kick of olive brine.”
Hepworth releases quartet of new canned beers
Sussex-based Hepworth Brewery has launched a new range of canned beers, named after the brand’s home county.
The new Sussex Range, made up of four new serves, will be available from this month direct from the Hepworth brewery shop and webstore.
All four beers, Sussex Premium Lager (3.5% ABV), Sussex Premium Pale Ale (5.5% ABV), Sussex Premium APA (5% ABV) and Sussex Low Alcohol Lager (0.5% ABV), are packaged in black 330ml cans and are gluten-free and vegan-friendly.
Support for the new range, which is available in 330ml can and keg format, includes branded glassware and table talkers for the on-trade and social media via Twitter and Facebook.
Hepworth managing director Leo Murphy said: "The launch of the Sussex range marks a step change for Hepworth's. We have always had a reputation for brewing top-quality beers and for leading the way on sustainable brewing.
"However, the way we presented our beers to the world, in terms of branding and pack design, didn't always communicate that combination of brewing excellence and innovation.
“We're seeking to do that now with the launch of the Sussex range, which places Hepworth's firmly in the craft beer space, while keeping the brewing tradition that has been at the core of the brewery since it was founded by Andy Hepworth in 2001."
