Fantastic pub: the Prince of Wales in Moseley reopens following £400,000k refurbishment

Greene King site the Prince of Wales in Moseley, Birmingham, has reopened its doors following a £400,000 investment from the pubcos leased, tenanted and franchised division.

The Prince of Wales, which is owned by Greene King Pub Partners, has benefitted from refurbishment both inside and outside, while remaining sympathetic to its heritage.

In addition, the pub, will be operated by multiple operator Sheldon Inns, which also run other pubs in partnership with Greene King Pub Partners.

As the traditional wet-led pub is also well-known for its selection of real ales and premium beers, Sheldon Inns staff all received training from pub partners’ in-house team with a specific focus on cask ale, including conditioning, ranging and pouring techniques.

Former glory

Sheldon Inns director Martin Cartwright said: "We are delighted to be taking on the Prince of Wales.

“The refurbishment has brought the pub back to its former glory, whilst retaining its character and charm. We look forward to welcoming customers old and new to this fantastic pub."

Inside, new fixtures and fittings have been installed, including new seating and lighting, which are in keeping with the pub's traditional look and feel.

Outside, the pub’s garden has also been revamped to include firepits and an outside bar, providing customers with a fantastic outdoor experience. Externally, a large mural on the wall of the pub has also been repainted.

Successful partnership

This comes as pub partners licensees of the Red Lion in Bromley, south east London, celebrated their 30th anniversary with Greene King.

Moreover, the pub operator and brewer was also awarded two accolades at the 2023 Publican Awards last month, including Best Tenanted/Leased Pub Company (501+ sites).

Greene King pub partners managing director Dan Robinson said: “We are thrilled with our investment in the Prince of Wales and to be continuing our successful partnership with Sheldon Inns.

“As a well-known venue locally, our investment in the Prince of Wales will ensure the pub continues to thrive as a great place for people to enjoy for years to come.”
