New products: CCEP expands Schweppes soda portfolio with two new flavours

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) has expanded its soda portfolio for one of its leading brands with two new flavours.

Set to be rolled out from the middle of March, the new Schweppes Soda Melon Watermelon and Schweppes Soda Peach Coconut variants join the brand’s original and pink soda serves and will be available in 200ml glass bottle formats.

The new melon flavoured soda has a fresh, fruity flavour with a dry and crisp finish while the peach coconut serve boasts a tropical peach flavour with subtle hints of coconut, finished with floral notes.

CCEP GB away from home sales director Karen Yates-Hills described the new products as “really exciting” having been “designed to bring new consumers into the soda part of the overall soft drinks market.”

She said: “The new Schweppes flavoured sodas and signature serves are arriving just in time for the warmer trading period whereby consumers often look for lighter, fruitier refreshments like spritzers and mixed drinks with white spirits.

Exciting news

“We will continue to keep the Schweppes brand front of mind with consumers with a multi-million-pound campaign in 2023 and more exciting news to follow throughout the summer.

This comes as the Morning Advertiser yesterday (Monday 13 March) exclusively revealed the launch of CCEP’s latest campaign to support its on-trade customers, Spring Into Summer, which offers independent operators the chance to win a share of £50,000 worth of soft drinks.

Additionally, the brand saw some positive movement on this year’s Drinks List, with Schweppes lemonade offering having scaled two places from sixth to fourth, with a value hike of 114.8% from £116.1 to £249.4, and a 110% rise in volume sales from 191,597 to 402,115 HL.

Yates-Hills continued: “We're really passionate about the pubs, bars and restaurants environment and we want to continue showing our help and support to on-trade customers to help them get the full [soft drinks] range right in their outlets.

“Things like Coca-Cola and Schweppes will really help them do that and we will continue to support by talking and activating around those brands both chilled and dispensed.

Special experience

“We have got our field sales teams that are out and about, our trade website and virtual representatives as well, so there's always places outlets can go to either see people face to face or reach out virtually if they need support.”

The release of the new range will be supported by a marketing campaign launching in quarter two, including digital and out-of-home advertising, paid social media, influencer activity and point-of-sale (POS) kits, all highlighting the Schweppes’ Soda’s signature serves, Watermelon Rouge Twist and Peach Opal Fizz.

For operators looking to showcase the serves, POS materials and digital assets can be found on My.CCEP.com alongside a menu generator tool to design and create a bespoke menu.

Yates-Hills added: “This latest NPD and our ongoing Schweppes core range and activation support will help venues give consumers special experience that’s worth going out for, which is important at a time when many are spending more carefully.”
