Operators Iain Warren and Jenny Small took on their second tenanted and leased site with Greene King, the Willow Tree, following a £200,000 investment into the site from the pubco.
The licensees, who operated Greene King pub the Queen Inn for more than eight years as managers before becoming tenants, said: “We’re thrilled to become licensees of the Willow Tree and take the step up to becoming multiple operators.
Truly unique
“The support from Greene King Pub Partners, both with the Queen Inn and now with the Willow Tree, has been pivotal in us growing our successful pub business.
“With Greene King’s investment we have been able to create a truly unique outdoor space at The Willow Tree. We cannot wait to welcome people into the pub.”
The pub, which will serve traditional pub food alongside a wide selection of drinks including cask ales, has benefitted from a new patio and covered pergola in the garden area as well as updated decking.
Inside the Willow Tree has had a new back bar and toilets fitted in addition to updated fixtures and fittings.
Continued success
Furthermore, the pubs signage, roofing and external decorations were also all updated as part of the refurbishments.
This comes as the large operator and brewer last month announced the opening of its “milestone” 30th Hive pub, the Essex Skipper, in Frinton, Essex, following a £400,000 investment to transform the site.
Greene King partnerships and ventures managing director Wayne Shurvinton said: “Our £200,000 investment in the Willow Tree has been transformational.
“I am delighted for Iain and Jenny who with our support have taken the journey from pub managers to multiple operators. I wish them continued success.”
