Jose Cuervo Especial took both first and second place with Gold named number one selling Tequila.
It saw a rise of 122.3% in volume – up from 23,777 nine-litre cases (9lc) and a similar (133.1%) rise in value to £60.8m.
In second place was its Silver variant, which saw an increase of 78% to 19,668 9lc and 83.7% in value from £12.5m.
Sales changes
Olmeca took the third and fourth spot with its Blanco and Reposado variants respectively as the former saw a significant volume rose of 200% to 17,389 9lc and 216.1% in value – up from £6.9m.
The latter also had an increase of 159% in volume sales from 5,248 9lc and 169.4% rise in value to sales to £17.3m.
These top four have remained unchanged in terms of where the brands were positioned but in fifth place this year is Cazcabel Blanco, which did not appear in the top seven last year.
The drink has seen the largest increase in both volume (231.3%) and value (253.1%) sales over the past 12 months and both sales rises were the largest increases in the top 10.
Positions jostled
This has meant last year’s number five – El Jimador Blanco – has fallen into number six, with volume sales up 134% to 10,231 9lc and value up 121.4% to £14.4m.
Patron Silver slipped slightly from sixth to seventh place this year, reporting volume sales at 7,790 9lc (up 102.1%) and value at £14.5m (up 106%).
It’s a similar story for Olmeca Altos Plata, which was in at number eight with volume sales having risen by 121.8% to 5,849 9lc and value by 130.5% to £9m.
Number six’s sister brand El Jimador Reposado was named ninth best selling Tequila with volume sales now at 5,834 9lc (up 176%) and value at £7.9m (up 189.4%).
In at tenth was Don Angel Blanco, which saw the smallest rise in sales both in volume (up 54.3%) and value (up 59.2%).
