Camden Town Brewery launches limited-edition Pilsner
Camden Town Brewery has announced the launch of Imperial Pilsner, an 8.5% ABV unaged version of the barrel-aged Imperial Pilsners launched by the brewery over the last few years.
Brewed with Camden's house Bamberg Pilsner malt for a full and intense bready malt character with a touch of wheat and rice to lighten the body and dry out the finish, the new serve is made using the same Perle hops as Camden's Hells Lager with the addition of new German hop Callista, offering an injection of stone fruit characters.
The Pilsner is also fermented with a classic Bavarian Lager yeast, keeping the higher ABV beer drinkable, with added New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops to create fresh vinous notes.
Camden Town Brewery innovation brewer Chris Wheeler said: "Since 2017, we have explored different variations of Barrel Aged Imperial Pilsners for our end of year beer and have now honed our Imperial Pilsner recipe to something we are extremely proud of.
"Previously only the brewers got to try the ‘young’ version of the brew that goes into the barrels but this year, we thought it was tasting too good to just save it for ourselves and we are excited to give beer lovers the chance to finally try it."
Camden's new Imperial Pilsner is availble now for a limited-time only from the brewery's webshop in 500ml bottles at RRP £5 a serve.

Brewpoint announces 'ghostly' new serve
Award-winning Bedford based brewery, Brewpoint, has announced the launch of Old Shuck, a 5% ABV modern take on a classic dark German Lager.
Brewed with a personalised pilsner malt and seven speciality malts, including two rye malts, Old Shuck offers flavours reminiscent of cold-brewed coffee and cocoa with hints of liquorice and is named after the ghostly black hellhound said to roam the coastline and countryside of East Anglia.
Brerwpoint head brewer James Hunter said, “The black lager style, or Schwarzbier, is an intriguing one to any brewer. Balance is key for the beer yet can be elusive.
"The concept behind the beer was first trialled last Autumn on our microbrewery as a ‘passion project’ by brewing director, Ian Jones, and refined and upscaled to a full-size brew this year.”
Old Shuck is availble now direct from the brewery's webshop at RRP £51 for 24x330ml cans.
