The plans to open in the city had been in place for a number of years as a result of its strong cultural identity and eclectic mix of districts, according to the brand.
It will open its first German venture in Potsdamer Platz – a new urban area that is host to Berliners, office workers and tourists.
Once finished, the development will include a mixture of retail including Mattel’s interactive toy shop, dining and entertainment.
Design influences
The venue will open in spring next year, span 5,887sq ft, holding 212 covers internally and a further 50 externally.
The Alchemist Berlin will feature futuristic influences from astrology and the cosmos. Furthermore, it will also include celestial lighting installations that act as structural statements in the day and illuminate the bar at night.
Guests will also be able to enjoy plush seating that wouldn’t look out of place in a spaceship alongside the use of rich coloured base metals and marbles.
CEO Simon Potts said: “This is a very exciting move for The Alchemist, into the vibrant city of Berlin."
City culture
He added: “We’ve been working on this venture for nearly three years and each time we come to visit, we get more excited about the energy and the environment around us.
“We love the pace of the city, both relaxed and somehow always on the go and believe our concept will fit in brilliantly with the wider culture in Berlin.
“We’re delighted to be a small part of the reimagining of The Playce at Potsdamer Platz and will be working hard to create an inclusive, engaging and experimental venue where all are welcome.”
In February this year, the business announced it was reopening its Spinningfields site in Manchester following a £550,000 refurbishment.
