Cornish Inns takes on 5th site with St Austell
Cornish Inns, owned by Chris and Jason Black, revealed the new site, the Golden Lion in the coastal town of Port Isaac, Cornwall, is scheduled to be reopened on Saturday 26 November.
The pub company said: “The Golden Lion is a fantastic pub in the centre of Port Issac, which has so much potential and we will be serving great freshly prepared pub classics in our bar, with an exciting new restaurant upstairs at the Golden Lion serving a small plate menu utilising fresh local produce.
Beautiful spot
“In our bar area, we will serve St Austell real ales and we will bring back live music from local acts.
“The pub has fantastic features such as open fires and great views of Port Issac. We will bring our friendly service to this beautiful spot and our team cannot wait to get started.”
Cornish Inns also operates four other sites in the area, including the Weavers Inn, Bodmin; the London Inn, Padstow; the Lugger Inn, Polruan; and the Pityme Inn, Rock.
The pub company added: “We also plan to open up the Bones Bar, gun deck and outside terrace in the new year ready for the 2023 season. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back to the pub.”
Dedication and passion
Licensee’s Chris and Jason Black were named the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) Licensee of the Year in 2021, beating more than 200 entrants.
Regarding the awards last year, BII chief executive Steve Alton said: “I’d like to offer a massive congratulations to Chris and Jason on behalf of myself and the whole team here at the BII, including our fantastic judges.
“This is the most rigorous and intense competition in our industry, but it was clear to the judges [Chris and Jason] had the dedication and passion deserving of a Licensee of the Year winner.”
