Jack Daniel's adds two new editions to its premium range
The Jack Daniel's Distillery has introduced two additions to its super-premium range; Bonded Tennessee Whiskey and Triple Mash Blended Straight Whiskey, marking the first permanent super premium releases by the brand for a quarter of a century.
Jack Daniel’s Bonded (50% ABV) offers a rich and dark body with layered notes of caramel, rich oak, and spice, while Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash (50% ABV), a blend of Bonded American Malt, Rye and Tennessee Whiskeys, delivers notes of honey, malt and soft oak with a well-rounded finish.
The new releases have been specially curated from barrel to bottle to hold up against the strict specifications outlined in the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, which states a bonded whiskey must be distilled and bottled by a single distiller during a single season, matured in a Government bonded warehouse for at least four years and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).
Best enjoyed neat, both new variants are available now from specialist retailers, including Master of Malt and the Whisky Shop, in 70cl bottles at RRP £45.
Black Sheep Brewery celebrates 30th anniversary
Yorkshire-based Black Sheep Brewery has announced the re-launch of its award-winning cask IPA, Pathmaker, in celebration of its 30th anniversary this September.
Originally brewed in 2015 in homage to its founder, Paul Theakston, Pathmaker (4% ABV) has been brewed with Chinook hops, offering a malty mouth feel and a moreish, crisp bitter finish alongside a punchy aroma with hints of grapefruit.
Theakston said: “I can’t believe it’s been 30 years since that first brew of Best Bitter back in 1992. I’m incredibly proud of the journey Black Sheep has taken and thankful to our wonderful new and loyal drinkers who have joined us along the way. I’m excited to enjoy a few pints of Pathmaker this September as we celebrate our big birthday.”
Pathmaker marked the eighth beer to be showcased, following the launch of Islander pale ale last month, in Black Sheep’s biggest Seasonal Cask Beer Range to date and was awarded a gold medal in the American IPA category at the World Beer Awards in 2019.
Black Sheep head of sales and marketing director Jonny Kirkham said: “In today’s fast-paced, innovative world, it’s easy to forget what makes cask beer so utterly amazing. Paul Theakston is a huge advocate of cask beer and that passion continues to run through our veins here at Black Sheep.
“Pathmaker tells the story of a brewery that continues to champion its founding principles of independence and innovation, whilst embracing modern creativity. Raise a glass of Pathmaker to all the pioneers who continue to take a stand against bland beer.”
Pathmaker can be purchased direct from the Black Sheep webshop in 330ml cans at RRP £2.49.
MONIN launches new tea concentrate
Flavoured syrups brand MONIN has announced the launch of its latest variant, White Tea Concentrate, adding to the existing MONIN concentrates range which also includes Green Tea and Rooibos variants.
Delivering an authentic floral taste with a hint of sweetness, the concentrate, which has an ambient shelf life of up to 3 months opened and 18 months unopened, has aimed to secure its place as a versatile component for any operator by capitalising on what the brand called a "rising trend" for tea based cocktails.
Originally from China, white tea is known for its rarity as it is only cultivated once a year with a two-step preparation process of picking young buds and leaves and leaving them to air dry in the sun as well as being rich in antioxidants and vitamins.
MONIN beverage innovation manager Lee Hyde said: “We know tea is on trend and MONIN White Tea Concentrate is the perfect ingredient to create a delicious, reduced sugar serve, in no time at all. We also know versatility and value matters more than ever right now in a tough economy, so the hard working many hats potential of White Tea can be a strong and useful addition to any bar, café, or coffee shop offer.”

Holyrood distillery announces new rum
Award-winning Holyrood Distillery has announced the release of a new blended rum, Rum Union, combining the flavours of three countries, including the Philippines, Vietnam and Ghana in one rich, and complex expression.
The brand has brought the best of several regions to create the new serve, using a sugar cane juice harvested from Vietnam, creating an aromatic and floral rum post distillation, which when blended with the pot still from Ghana and a molasses-based rum from the Philippines, results in notes of caramelised banana, stone fruits, citrus and wood spice, available now direct from Holyrood at RRP £39.99 for a 70cl bottle.
Holyrood managing director Nick Ravenhall said: “We are working with rum in order to push ourselves as whisky makers. Rum asks challenging questions on raw material and fermentation, questions that don't get asked in single malt whisky production. We are greatly inspired by the rum makers and that is why Holyrood is on this journey, to learn more and push ourselves further.”
