Rooney Anand-based investment vehicle RedCat Pub Company has grown its portfolio once again with the acquisition of a site in the New Forest.

This is the 11th acquisition by the company’s subsidiary The Coaching Inn Group under RedCat ownership and brings the number of pub hotels owned by The Coaching Inn Group to 29.

The Forest Park Country Hotel and Inn on the edge of Brockenhurst is a historic hotel that has hosted dinner for Theodore Roosevelt in the 1900s. It was also the general hospital for Indian and New Zealand military during World War I.

The venue has also recently had a significant investment, with 40 en-suite bedrooms and restaurant serving modern British cuisine.

Attractive portfolio

The Coaching Inn Group chief executive Kevin Charity said: “I’m delighted to have acquired this modern country house centred in the New Forest National Park.

“Thanks to RedCat’s support, we have been working at pace over the past few months to expand our attractive portfolio, particularly in areas of scenic natural beauty, which see strong tourist visitation.”

Just last month (June), The Coaching Inn Group bought two venues in Norfolk – the Pheasant Hotel in Kelling and Blakeney Manor, adjacent to Blakeney Quay.

Since its inception in February 2021, RedCat has grown and has acquired more than 100 pubs and pub hotels, now amounting to a bedroom estate of over 1,200 rooms.

Selective investment

The Coaching Inn Group, which was acquired by RedCat last August, operators historic coaching inns in market towns across the country.

On the latest purchase, RedCat executive chairman Rooney Anand added: “RedCat and The Coaching Inn Group continue to selectively invest, focusing on running high-quality pub hotels across the country, which will offer customers the best possible service and good value.

“I’m particularly proud of our recent acquisitions in popular tourist destinations including the New Forest, north Norfolk and the Brecon Beacons National Park, which attract both domestic and international tourists.”

The deal was brokered by Savills, acting on behalf of the owners
