Leading this weeks new products round up is premium Swedish drinks brand, Kopparberg, with the launch of its new summer serve, Kopparberg Twist.

Launching exclusively in Marston’s venues, Kopparberg Twist, best served ice cold, consists of 2 base parts of either Kopparberg’s Strawberry & Lime Gin, Vodka or Cherry Rum, 6 parts lemonade, a dash of soda, and 1tsp of either Strawberry or Cherry flavoured syrup.

Marston's flagship sites the Lion & Snake in Lincoln, Lincolnshire and Boundary Stone Worsley, Greater Manchester, will be the first to launch the new creation, ranging from £5.75 - £7.00 by the glass and £11.50 - £14.00 by pitcher subject to price band per location, from 2 - 3 June and 4 - 5 June respectively.

Urchin Spirits has announced two new serves distributed exclusively by Proof Drinks in the UK, Lucky Sod (29% ABV) and Scorch (29%ABV), two innovative whisky-based liqueurs aiming to shake up the shot category.

Both Lucky Sod and Scorch have been specifically designed to appeal to non-traditional whisky drinkers, with the demographic valuing on-trend flavours, a smoother taste and lower percentage ABV.

Lucky Sod is an Irish whiskey liqueur offering flavours of toffee, caramel and vanilla while Scorch is a Scotch whisky liqueur with a nod to the classic Old Fashioned cocktail, but with added notes of candied blood orange, sweet vanilla and chilli heat.

Although best enjoyed straight up, Lucky Sod and Scorch can be enjoyed in wide range of mixed drinks.

Proof Drinks managing director John Vider said: “With the recent resurgence of shot sales we saw a huge opportunity to elevate the category with better and more innovative products. Lucky Sod and Scorch achieve both these things with top quality liquid combined with a twist on the traditional.”

Lucky Sod and Scorch are both available now from Amazon in 700ml formats at RRP £24.99 and £24.03 respectively as well as on-trade accounts including Head of Steam, Bodean’s, Livelyhood Pubs, Hijingo and The Claddagh Ring.

Glenrinnes releases limited edition Muscat barrel-aged vodka

Glenrinnes Distillery, maker of internationally acclaimed Eight Lands Gin and Vodka, has announced a limited-edition Muscat barrel-aged vodka (41.6% ABV,), developed by its head of distilling and operations, Meeghan Murdoch.

The vodka is the second release from Glenrinnes Producers’ Series, which allows any of the team to put forward an idea for consideration as a limited edition product.

In order to create the serve, virgin casks were first filled with brandy, followed by 31-year-aged Muscat, and finally the Eight Lands vodka, offering subtle notes of oak and vanilla on the nose.

On the palate, the vodka is delightfully smooth with notes of apricot and raisins, best served as a Martini made with a hint of a very dry vermouth or topped with tonic water over ice for a refreshing alternative.

Murdoch said: “I have long been interested in the impact different barrels can have on spirits, all the way back to my time as a winemaker, and it’s fascinating to see what whisky makers are using now to finish their products.

“Our vodka is such a fantastic spirit; I knew it would make the perfect starting point for something new and exciting. I hadn’t ever seen a vodka aged in a Muscat barrel and quickly knew we were onto a winner once the vodka had spent a short time in the barrel."

Eight Lands Muscat barrel-aged Vodka, of which there are just 758 bottles, is available in 50cl bottles at RRP £37 from Harvey Nichols and the Whisky Exchange.

Burleighs announces its first flavoured serve

Burleighs-Gin-Raspberry-Edition-1.jpg

Leicestershire distillery, Burleighs Gin, has ventured into the flavoured gin category for the first time, with the launch of its Raspberry Edition Gin (37.5% ABV).

Produced by steeping Burleighs’ award-winning signature gin recipe in raspberries and peaches, the blush-coloured drink is a fresh and fruity yet delicate gin, delicious on its own with a tonic, or as a base for cocktails.

Burleigh's commercial director Sam Watson said: “We’re extremely excited to add this delicious and authentic pink gin to Burleighs’ core range.

“We hope Burleighs’ lovers will agree the new drink still has the classic and elevated taste we’ve built our reputation on, but with added freshness and a subtle sweetness that’s summer-friendly, lending itself to a range of drinks and cocktails both at home and in the on-trade.

“Whilst we have our delicious Pink Edition Gin in the range, which is inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms during Hanami, the new Raspberry Edition Gin has a very different flavour and look, with a unique and pretty design on a clear bottle, to help showcase the gin’s inviting colour.

"It's one of our most versatile bottles yet."

Burleighs Raspberry Edition Gin is available now in 70cl bottles at RRP £32.50 from the distilleries webshop.
