The site, which was previously a Greene King managed pub, will be run by new franchisees Melissa and Steve Field. It has been refreshed with a modern look, and will offer a range of food and drink in line with the Hive Pubs branded concept.
Sport will be a key part of the offer at the Globe, so the pub has Sky Sports and BT Sport subscriptions to show all major sporting events. It also has a pool table and dartboards and will host regular karaoke nights and live music.
Melissa said: “Taking on a Hive Pub has been an incredible experience for us. Greene King have invested in and led the transformation of the pub. They sort out just about everything from back of house systems to stock."
Running a great pub
“It means we can focus on running a great pub knowing we are guaranteed a franchise fee as well as share of turnover and bonus opportunities," she added.
Aimed at those with experience of running a pub, the Hive Pub franchise agreement gives licensees a ready to trade pub within a proven branded concept for just £5,000 ingoing cost. Franchisees get a minimum guaranteed income of £20,000 plus additional income based on performance such as share of turnover and other bonus opportunities.
Greene King Pub Partners managing director Wayne Shurvinton added: “Following our £320,000 investment, the Globe has reopened as a Hive Pub. I’m excited to see how it prospers in the coming months following our transformation. It is our ninth Hive Pub and we have even more set to open very soon.”
Norfolk sites
Just last month, the pubco launched its seventh and eighth Hive Pub, sites the Orb & Sceptre in South Wootton, Norfolk and the Norfolk Terrier in Thetford, Norfolk.
Going down the franchise route was the “obvious choice” for the Orb & Sceptre franchisees Alan and Sam Brookes. They said: “Greene King has provided a fully invested and revamped pub with a proven concept, but we haven’t had to pay the high costs associated with such an investment.
“It greatly reduces risk for us as entrepreneurs and means we can focus on running and growing a great pub business.”
