This year's Best Food Offer winner at the 2022 Publican Awards will be awarded to the company that delivers a successful food offer across their estate, with food a key part of the firm's total sales.

Albion & East

A collection of individual neighbourhood bars, Albion & East has sites across London. Quality, innovation and hard work underpins everything the business does and its food offer showcases this.

Pizza and pasta is made in house on a daily basis, from scratch using wood and coal fired ovens and its menus include Italian sharing plates, slow-cooked ragus and wood-fired pizza.

The business, which was created by Sarah Weir, innovated its food over the past year and its menu now includes dishes such as smoothie bowls and handmade pasta.

Amid the pandemic, the company diversified quickly and provided DIY pizza kits to customers.

Taking inspiration from overseas, Albion & East look at international businesses for ideas about different food offers.

Farmhouse Inns

Farmhouse Inns has 70 pubs with focus on the Midlands and are self-proclaimed carvery experts.

A change in marketing strategy resulted in opportunities in the delivery market for the business, creating an increased takeaway offer for the firm.

The freshly-prepared carvery offer gives guests comforting, much-loved classics, great value breakfasts and a dedicated children’s menu.

Meats are slow roasted for 14 hours, vegetables are freshly prepared and Yorkshires are handmade.

The company’s sweet offer includes hand-decorated giant cakes prepared in kitchens every day, ensuring guests get a generous plate of proper food.

Furthermore, the company used social media to its advantage by creating engaging posts about its food, designed to go viral.

Provenance Inns & Hotels

North Yorkshire company Provenance has a passion for high-quality, locally-sourced fresh food in pubs at the heart of the community.

Due to this passion, the company has a large kitchen garden near to its sites, which provides chefs with the finest produce for its seasonal menus.

An estate of seven traditional gastropubs, the sites have menus centred around elevated British classics.

Provenance focuses its kitchen training on breaking down the basics into understanding the larder, garnish and vegetable knowledge, mastering the sauces and creating pastry to perfection.

In addition, the company prides itself on ensuring it is supporting and giving back to the industry, hosting charity dinners, giving meals away and fundraising for local causes.
