The 38-room lakeside venue has taken the group’s Lake District portfolio to include nine establishments and its overall site count to 28.
Located on the southern shore of Ullswater, the Glenridding Hotel, which was purchased for an undisclosed amount, offers views of Helvellyn and is a popular starting point for walkers and climbers scaling the third highest mountain in England.
Bucket list addition
The Inn Collection Group managing director Sean Donkin said: “The Glenridding Hotel is a real bucket list addition to the group. We are delighted to be expanding into further key Lake District areas in the UK’s most visited national park.”
A sensitive refurbishment and remodelling plan has been planned for later this year at the hotel, which includes a coffee shop, bar, restaurant, and conference facilities, with trade continuing until work begins.
Existing sites for the group include venues in sought-after destination sites across the UNESCO World Heritage area including Coniston, Ambleside, Grasmere, Bowness-on-Windermere and Bassenthwaite.
The acquisition of the Glenridding Hotel comes after the Alchemy-backed operator first expanded into Wales in December, following the purchase of the Swallow Falls Hotel in Snowdonia National Park, as well as the reopening of the Temperance Inn in Ambleside after a multi-million pound refurbishment at the Cumbria site.
Strong reputation
Last month also saw the Inn Collection Group secure £42m worth of funding from OakNorth Bank to refurbish a number of its sites and develop its property portfolio.
Donkin added: “Exceptional locations are very much a group USP and The Glenridding Hotel has this in spades.
“We look forward to building on the strong reputation this classic site enjoys and enhancing this with a careful refurbishment in line with our ‘Eat, Drink, Sleep and Explore’ concept and brand.”
