Optimism for the Christmas period is running high with people working in the hospitality sector, despite concerns over Government plans for the winter.

However, while nearly 40% of respondents were optimistic for the festive season, almost a quarter, 23%, were worries, with a further three percent of respondents saying they were losing sleep over the issue.

The survey by digital payment provider Ordamo claimed 36.5% were expecting a usual level of business, with 35.5% expecting a better season. Only 4.8% were anticipating a loss.

In other findings, one in nine (11.7%) cite Brexit as having the biggest impact on business recently, with over three quarters (76.9%) naming Covid as having had the most significant impact.

When it comes to most common areas of business concern for those in hospitality, staffing, the supply chain and customer service are the three most cited (by 61.2%, 47.2% and 18.6% of respondents respectively)
