Have you got the best bar team in the country, pride yourself on your sustainable credentials or perhaps you’re new to the bar scene and want to make your mark?
  • What are you waiting for? Enter the awards here.

If so, you need to enter the Top 50 Cocktail Bars specialist awards now. Covering new venues, environmentally friendly sites and celebrating bar teams, these are the awards to win.

Newcomer of the Year recognises a venue that has been open under its current operator for up to 24 months on the closing date for entries.

Former winner was L’atelier du Vin – an outstanding cocktail bar, in the centre of a creative seaside city.

This Brighton-based bar is a vision of loveliness, a true escape from the city into another type of world that is hard to come by.

The bar is intimate, luxurious and oozing with personality. You enter the main bar which is small, but fresh and set out in a bistro style.

The list

The Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub Awards are voted for by top foodies and hospitality experts. These include gastropub operators (who can’t vote for their own pubs), food writers, pubco catering development managers and executive chefs, celebrity and top hospitality industry chefs, pub guide editors, industry chiefs and food operators. The voting criteria ensure the list really is decided on by the industry.

To make sure each region in the UK has an equal opportunity for their pubs to shine, our voters are broken down into six geographical regions, with an equal number of votes collected in each by the Top 50 Gastropubs Voting Academy.

If you’re looking for a more intimate space then move up to the mezzanine which is set out in a lounge format with comfy mismatch chairs and tables.

The cocktail offering is clean and well thought out, but it’s the ingredients used in the drinks that are really special.

Owner Steve Pineau goes out of his way to source ingredients that are out of the ordinary.

Ultimately, this means the bar’s menu is pricey, but we say it’s worth it because one or two drinks made with carefully curated ingredients easily outweigh a handful made using mediocre spirits.

The judges for Bar Team of the Year are looking for cocktail bar managers and teams who are a vital part of the business success and help deliver excellent service.

Chinatown’s Opium previously took the title and is set over three floors and has something to offer any drinker, from those who want a simpler beverage to the more discerning drinker who prefers a little extra pizazz.

Industry experts

Each of the three floors showcases a different style of menu and experience, with the decor of each bar reflecting the theme found on the menu.

A new award for this year, Sustainable Bar of the Year recognises bars making the effort to become more sustainable, whether that be by focusing on zero waste or making changes to reduce their carbon footprint.

Publisher of Top 50 Cocktail Bars Chris Lowe said: “Our inaugural Top 50 Cocktail Bar awards are the ones to enter.

“We are celebrating all that is great about the cocktail bar scene, particularly after the volatile time the industry has had over the past 18 months.”

All awards are entered into and judged by a small panel of industry experts who visit the bars, interview the team and choose the winners they believe, deserve to be recognised.

Entries close on Friday 19 November so enter now to be in with a chance of scooping one of these prestigious awards.
