We’ve given the conference and networking study tour a shake up, which will mean visiting more venues in the city than ever before.
The new event style will include all content being presented at Arc Inspirations' Box and North Bar/North Brewing Co's Springwell, bringing a fresh feel to the conference-style agenda as well as providing our speakers with more innovative venues to deliver in.
Operator insight
Are you in the club?
The MA Leaders Club is open to multi-site operators and runs three nationwide events a year that include business-focused presentations from top experts and owner-operators.
Each event is followed by an evening's networking study tour of new and exciting venues in the area.
To be part of this exclusive group, register here.
We will be hearing from three top operators – North Bar/North Brewing Co director John Gyngell; Arc Inspirations chief executive Martin Wolstencroft; and Mojo managing director Martin Greenhow – to find out about the challenges and opportunities of operating in Leeds.
Fellow multiple operator Joe Cussens, managing director of Bath Pub Company has picked apart the rates system to expose the insanity behind pub rating valuations.
He’ll be exposing the system for the house of cards it is and the arbitrary, damaging valuations it produces before calling on operators and trade associations to challenge a system he argues is not fit for purpose.
Zonal will be revealing the latest research, helping to understand and highlight consumer behaviour to tackle no shows, alongside tips and advice on how to mitigate the risk of people not turning up.
Business tips
Zonal’s strategic product manager Henri Jooste is set to introduce the company’s #showupforhospitality campaign that aims to help tackle the issue alongside help on how to boost guest loyalty.
Lumina Intelligence commercial director Ed Sibley will dive into the new UK Pub Market Report 2021, pinpointing the market and consumer trends shaping the coming 12 months and analysing the progress of the sector’s recovery.
Furthermore, we will also be hearing the latest legislative updates from Poppleston Allen partner Sarah Taylor, alongside legal tips on the upcoming Natasha's Law enforcement from CPL Learning's Jamie Campbell.
Employment specialist Graeme Nuttall, partner at Fieldfisher, will advise on how to get the most out of staff including the benefits of employee ownership.
Meanwhile, off the back of a pilot initiative with leading operators, Net Zero Now has launched a sector wide initiative which offers a toolkit to help the sector cut its environmental footprint. Net Zero Now’s Simon Heppner and Peach Pubs MD Hamish Stoddart will set out how they’ve approached the challenge and how other operators can get involved.
Jackie Moody-McNamara will also be laying down the gauntlet around promoting and supporting diversity in the sector, particularly when it comes to women in the trade, at a senior level. She'll be asking what part are we playing in maintaining the status quo, is it really worth disrupting and if so, how can we as leaders personally accelerate the rate of change?
