Deadline extension: pubs now have an extra seven days to get entries in for the awards

There’s still time to get your entry into the pub Oscars as the organisers have extended the deadline by a week.

Entries for the Great British Pub Awards 2021 are now open until Friday 25 June to give busy pubs a little more time to polish up their initial entries.

Ed Bedington, editor of The Morning Advertiser, which organises the awards, said: “We appreciate that the current market is manic for operators who are struggling to copy with staff shortages and massive demand from customers.

“So we’ve given pubs an extra week’s grace to get their entries into the sector’s top awards scheme. Being a finalist and winner in this competition can provide a huge boost to your business so we want to give as many pubs a chance to enter as possible. If you haven’t got it in yet, hopefully the extra week will help.”

Full list of categories

There are 10 categories open for entry until Friday 25 June, they are:

  • Best Pub for Dogs
  • Best Pub for Families
  • Best Pub for Food
  • Best Pub for Late Night
  • Best Pub Garden
  • Best Pub to Watch Sport
  • Best Pub with Rooms
  • Community Hero
  • Best Pub Chef

The awards will also see pub company categories make a return with pubs from the following operations competing for a top prize:

  • Admiral Pub of the Year
  • Greene King Pub of the Year
  • Hawthorn Pub of the Year
  • Punch Pub of the Year
  • Stonegate Group Pub Partners Pub of the Year

Last year’s awards focused on selflessness and community spirit and were held virtually. This year’s awards will be a new hybrid format including a livestream awards ceremony and an overall GBPA winners event.

Bedington added: “This event is the stand out awards for the pub sector, and recognises excellence across the trade. It’s been a shocking 18 months for all operators, so we want to use these awards to give you all a potential springboard to boost your business and help in the recovery from such a horrific time.

“Don’t miss out on the opportunity, get your entries in and fingers crossed, you could be reaping the rewards later in the year.”
