The Morning Advertiser has profiled the three operators shortlisted for the Best Sustainable Pub Company prize, sponsored by Sky, at this year’s Publican Awards.

BrewDog

Independent craft brewer and bar operator BrewDog has endeavoured to put sustainability at the heart of its business over the past 12 months – achieving certified B Corp status and announcing in August that as a carbon negative beer maker it takes twice as much carbon out of the air as it emits.

The operator of more than 100 sites across 15 countries, and producer of flagship brew Punk IPA, also revealed in February that it has 42 sites in its expansion pipeline.

Darwin & Wallace

The operator of eight sites across the capital, Darwin & Wallace is a collection of neighbourhood bars which revolve around green credentials, bespoke design as well as a top-notch food and drink offer.

A previous winner of the Best Sustainable Pub Company gong, London-based Darwin & Wallace has been shortlisted in three categories at this year’s Publican Awards – Best Drinks Offer, Best Premium Food Offer and, once again, Best Sustainable Pub Company.

Yummy Pubs

Founded in 2007, Surrey-based Yummy Pubs operates a small estate across London and the south east and is a first-time finalist at the Publican Awards in 2021.

In addition to a redoubled approach to sustainability, Yummy has embraced the takeaway and delivery market and built a thriving home cocktail operation in lockdown
