The new series, COFFEEWORKS, comprises four videos and has been created with an aim to focus on delivering a quality coffee offer.
It is led by UCC Coffee UK & Ireland head of coffee excellence Gareth Davies, who has spent more than a decade in the coffee industry and who is looking to challenge common misconceptions alongside offering expert advice with a commercial and quality-based mindset, to aid making it easier to eliminate bad habits and improve consistency.
Davies will be outlining how operators can capitalise on COFFEEWORKS at the MA500 business club meeting this week (13 February) at the Hilton London Tower Bridge. Find out more about the event here.
Golden rules
COFFEEWORKS is an eight-step approach to help deliver all key aspects of a successful coffee product, ensuring operators have all the tools to serve “exceptional and consistent coffee, cup after cup”.
Its three golden rules to ensure a high coffee standard are keeping the product fresh, ensuring the milk is cold and fresh, and keeping the machine clean.
Areas covered include site set-up, great espresso, perfect milk, routines and efficiencies, and cleaning the equipment.
Focus on real life
Davies said: “We experience many businesses consistently making the same mistakes with their coffee, which often has a direct impact on their commercial success.
“This is often down to bad habits, inconsistent training, lack of ownership or a combination of those things.
“We created COFFEEWORKS, back in 2017, to make it simple for our customers to serve lots of great coffee, consistently. These new videos are educational, with a focus on real life, operational benefits to help operators achieve coffee excellence.”
The TV series includes top tips on ensuring the customer is always at the heart of a business; an overview of coffee machine misconceptions including comparing machines based on speed, consistency, cost and quality; five ways to identify common errors in coffee preparation; and choosing the right machine for your business.
