Dry day: Fugitive Motel will offer low and no-alcohol drinks on Saturday 18 January

London’s Fugitive Motel is celebrating low and no-alcohol by going dry for one night only this month (Saturday 18 January).

The all-day bar and kitchen in Bethnal Green offers 16 craft beer lines, sourdough pizza and US-inspired bar games alongside more than 50 low and no-alcohol beers, ciders, kombuchas and cocktails.

The event taking place on 18 January is called ‘Drink the Bar: Dry’ and aims to showcase the booze-free products for the bar to go dry for the evening.

The night is in partnership with Club Soda, which runs its Mindful Drinking Festival at the nearby Truman’s Brewery over the same weekend.

Official party venue

Fugitive Motel is also home to the festival’s official aftershow party and guests can enjoy a complimentary spritz cocktail on entry from Lyres non-alcoholic spirits.

As part of Fugitive Motel’s day offering, guests can play a 14ft shuffleboard table and dedicated ‘cornhole’ games area with beginner-friendly tournaments being hosted and cast to a big screen. There will also be live DJs and a pop-up cocktail bar from mixologist La Maison Wellness.

The venue has been inspired by mid-century US motels that also features a series of large booths with their own ‘vacancy’ light set against huge floor-to-ceiling windows.

The front bar also includes a can store area for craft beer takeaways alongside a retractable projector screen in the centre of the site for film showings and presentations.

Event speaker

Fugitive Motel co-founder David Burgess will be speaking at the first MA500 event of 2020, which is being help at the capital’s London Bridge Hilton before delegates will be hitting the streets of Bermondsey for the networking study tour.

Burgess will be sharing his views on how he is looking to modernise the British institution of the pub for the next generation of customers.
