The 3.8% amber ale, which will be available at Norwich’s Carrow Road stadium and in a number of the city’s pubs, was created in tribute to Norwich striker Pukki after he played starring role in his native Finland qualifying for Euro 2020 − their first ever major tournament.
Fans will be able to get their hands on the new brew on Sunday 1 December as Norwich take on Arsenal at Carrow Road in an attempt to climb out of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
While the Perfect Finnish will be on sale at the stadium on matchday, it will be available at Woodforde’s brewery tap and The Fur & Feather, in Woodbastwick, Norfolk, from Saturday, and in Woodforde’s Premier Pub Partner venues in Norwich; The Murderers, The Jubilee, Lollard’s Pit, and The Compleat Angler, on Sunday.
Thirsty fans will also be able to get their hands on the special-edition beer later in December, when it goes into wider distribution in pubs and shops across East Anglia and beyond.
Woodforde’s, an official partner of Norwich City, toasted the club’s title-winning form in the EFL Championship last season by offering 20,000 fans a free bottle of its award-winning Wherry Amber Ale in a home fixture against Bristol City.
Fitting tribute
Pukki, who has scored six goals in 13 Premier League appearances for Norwich this season – winning the competition’s Player of the Month award for August – endeared himself to Canaries fans last season, his first at the club, by scoring 29 goals on their way to winning the EFL Championship and regaining Premier League status.
What’s more, he hit the back of the net 10 times for the Finnish national team - nicknamed Huuhkajat (The Eagle Owls) – in an unprecedented purple patch that saw them reach next summer’s European Championships.
“Having seen Teemu and the Huuhkajat propel themselves to the European Championships it only seems fitting that there should be something appropriate to drink to celebrate,” Norwich City FC’s head of commercial operations Sam Jeffery said. “It’s great to see that Woodforde’s have been able to use this ale to recognize their outstanding achievement.”
“We’re proud to partner the club to brew this beer,” James Armitage, commercial and marketing director at Woodforde’s added. “We hope we’ve done Teemu justice by creating a beer that, like him, is a huge hit with the fans, high in quality, has great balance, and always achieves the perfect finish.”
