Pub’s generosity: the Haus on the Hill is hosting an event day to raise cash for families affected by a fire

A Brighton pub is holding a fundraising event to raise money for families who lost their homes in a blaze on 20 September.

In Brighton, East Sussex, a fire ripped through a block of flats, leaving 50 people homeless.

The Haus on the Hill pub hopes the fundraiser will benefit the families whose homes were devastated by the blaze.

Families affected

The pub posted on its Facebook event page: “We know how much the local people in Hanover, and across Brighton, care about their community and are confident we can raise money to help all the families affected.”

The pub is open from 12noon and there will be live bands and DJs and local ’80s indie rock band, The Popguns, will also be performing.

The pub will be running drinks promotions through the day and hope people will donate the savings from each drink.

Range of prizes

It will also contribute 10% of sales on the night to the fundraising amount that is donated.

In addition, there will be a raffle on the night featuring a range of prizes.

The Facebook page also stated: “There will be a collection in the pub that will run all weekend, so if you can’t make it on the night there’s still plenty of time to pop into the Haus on the Hill and donate.”
