Punch teams up with vegan fast-food operator
Vegan burgers and wings will be on offer and will be rolling out across Punch’s Champs sites, the Our Local and Our Local Pubs portfolio in September, in cities including Manchester, Leeds and Bristol.
Each site will have a branded signature Biff’s crispy jackfruit burger on the menu, as well as the jackfruit wings.
Debut partnership
Initially, Biff’s Kitchen is focusing on foodservice partnerships such as the debut launch with Punch but a retail range is also in development.
Mintel data in 2018 revealed the UK overtook Germany as the world leader for new vegan product launches fuelled by a rising number of the population following a vegan diet or reducing their meat consumption.
The collaboration between Punch and Biff’s Kitchen means both parties can aim to meet this demand with a “unique” vegan offer for customers.
Natural fit
Biff’s commercial director and partner Andrew Allen said: “When we sat down and decided to set about bringing our food to the foodservice market, the on-trade felt a natural fit for our indulgent style. As such, having the opportunity to launch with such a respected operator like Punch is incredibly exciting.
“The team at Punch have been open and supportive from day one, and the result is that between us we can provide their customers up and down the country with an uncompromising, super tasty plant-based option.”
Punch has been committed to find the best partners in vegan space, due to the rise in demand for meat-free options, according to its head of food Tracey Bell.
She added: “Biff’s provides our customers with a great product from a brand with an exciting, deeply credible story.”
