West Berkshire Brewery has rebranded its entire portfolio of beers following a £9m brewery investment.

It recently increased capacity by 12 times and introduced new brewing technology that included an automated canning and bottling line.

As well as the new design, brewery expansion and equipment, the brewer has also expanded its team in a bid to allow for an even wider range of beer styles and innovation to be tapped into.

Blend of styles

West Berkshire Brewery managing director Tom Lucas said: “We are true to our principles and our love of all beer styles.

“Our portfolio of beers represents a blend of heritage styles and innovative, modern beers. As a business that has been at the forefront of the independent brewing movement since it started, it is important to us that we remember where we came from and why we started brewing in the first place so while our branding might evolve, we don’t break with the past.

“We have kept our gentleman character and he has been given a facelift with a new bold graphic to stand out.”

Head brewer Will Twomey outlined why the business made the decision to rebrand its look as well as the investment.

Beer medley

He said: “The main focus for us is to brew exceptionally high-quality beer in a range of styles that are authentic and honest in terms of ingredients and style as well as being balanced and drinkable.

“Having learnt our trade producing cask ales like Good Old Boy and Maharajah IPA, the new equipment allows us to play around and brew many styles that we wouldn’t have been able to do justice previously.

“The expansion has allowed us to accommodate more Renegade Lager production and its 45-day ageing process, and to create our India Session Ale, which combines a medley of American and Australian hops.”

West Berkshire Brewery has also invested more than £1m in environmentally sustainable production equipment to minimise to impact its brewing process has.
