The Sandon pub has historic links to Liverpool Football Club and is situated less than half a mile away from Anfield football ground.
Built in 1870, the venue welcomes more than 5,000 match goers and football supporters each time the Reds play a home game.
Former Liverpool footballer Jamie Carragher officially opened the Sandon Hotel yesterday (Tuesday 7 May 2019)
The former Liverpool defender marked the opening of the hotel alongside owner Kate Stewart and director of business development John Connolly.
Group offering
Owner Stewart took over the site in 2017 and made an initial investment of £100,000 for a refurbishment.
Most of the rooms sleep up to six people with larger rooms sleeping up to 10, with bunk bed-style pods. The hotel expects to see bookings from groups of friends travelling to matches at the nearby stadium.
The new accommodation offer has resulted in 15 new jobs for people local to the site.
Stewart spoke of her delight at the opening. She said: "The pub is a favourite with LFC fans and it’s great to be able to offer them somewhere to stay now too.
“Having Jamie officially open the hotel was incredible – he’s a Liverpool legend.”
Jamie Carragher added: “The Sandon is brilliant for Anfield and LFC fans who now have somewhere to stay right next to the ground. The pub’s history and the fact that it is an official club hospitality partner shows it’s a great place to come to watch the Reds in action.”
