In December last year, the US-based brewery launched Special Effects exclusively to consumers in Sweden.
Following its success in the Scandinavian nation, the hoppy lager with an ABV of 0.4%, is now being unleashed in the UK as the growing trend for low and no-alcohol options across the country soars.
Jonathan Dee, director of marketing for craft and ale at Carlsberg UK, spoke of his excitement ahead of its release in May.
“Brooklyn Special Effects is already performing well in Sweden and we have no doubt that it will perform incredibly well in the UK too,” exclaimed Dee.
“Inclusivity is one of the core values of Brooklyn Brewery and, to us, this means everyone should be able to enjoy a great tasting, well-brewed beer, regardless of alcohol content.”
Available in 355ml bottles, Brooklyn Special Effects has been brewed using a specially developed fermentation method that limits the amount of alcohol created, without compromising on flavour.
Dee added that beer fans can expect a hoppy beer with a “piney aroma and bitter finish”.
“This is a big moment for Brooklyn here in the UK,” Dee concluded.
“There has been a cultural shift in the UK towards moderation, with drinkers seeing low and no-alcohol options as more socially acceptable.
“This has created an opportunity for non-alcoholic alternatives from trusted and recognised brands.”
