Former founder of sports-focused brand Champs has launched a new concept with plans to roll out more venues.

Following on from the success of Sport Shack, Ecclesall Road, in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, multiple operators Danny Grayson and James Dobson opened the second site of the concept at the end of last month (February) in Hillsborough.

At the time of opening the first site in September last year, Grayson said: “There is a niche in the market for this type of establishment, having owned Champs on Ecclesall Road for six years, we found it hard to fill a big venue.

“The Sport Shack will be smaller but will focus on better atmosphere with our slogan being ‘small on size, big on atmosphere’.”

Fantastic offers

Guests will be treated to fantastic offers at the Sports Shack on Hillsborough Corner, close to Sheffield Wednesday’s football stadium, with heavily discounted deals on drinks on Thursdays and Sundays.

It is also be a ‘sport lover’s dream’, featuring Sky and BT Sports, including the racing channel screening during the day.

Sport Shack serves keg and cask ale, mainstream lagers and spirits, with a gin selection of more than 20 varieties. Food is also served and made fresh on-site daily, using local ingredients.

The brand new site features eight of the latest 4K ultra HD televisions and sporting memorabilia throughout.

New jobs

Grayson and Dobson said: “We are really happy to be coming to Hillsborough and we have created eight new jobs for this site.

“Hillsborough has been neglected over the past few years with lots of shops and banks disappearing, we hope other companies will come to Hillsborough and make the area as vibrant as it used to be because it is a fantastic area with good people.”

A third site is also on the horizon for Sports Shack with a new venue set to open this year in Woodseats, Sheffield.
