JD Wetherspoon is playing matchmaker this year by bringing back its £20 Valentine’s Day meal for two – that's perfect for lovebirds.

Traditionally, Valentine's Day can often burn a hole in your pocket, but JD Wetherspoon is stepping up to the plate to help cut the costs.

The pub chain is offering its customers a two-course meal including two mains, two drinks and two desserts.

One of the options is an 8oz steak, which comes alongside peas, mushrooms tomatoes and chips or a jacket potato.

Prices vary between pubs as they set their own prices, but the same steak will usually set you back around £10 or £20 for two.

That means you’ll save if you get the romantic deal for two on Valentine’s Day because it also includes desserts and drinks.

And, if you’re feeling flush, you could spend an extra £5 and get a bottle of Prosecco to share too.

For couples who don’t fancy steak, there are plenty of other options too including a mixed grill, barbecued pork ribs and a Mediterranean vegetable lasagne.

For those with a sweet tooth, a warm cookie dough sandwich with ice cream and a chocolate brownie, among other options, is available for dessert.

The drinks options include a glass of wine, spirits with a mixer, a can of craft beer or a pint of lager, ale or cider.

However, if you're off the booze, then you can have a soft drink or unlimited refills of tea and coffee.

The Valentine's deal is only available on 14 February, which falls on a Thursday this year.

Last year, The Morning Advertiser reported how Wetherspoon customers were left outraged after steaks were taken off the menu just a few weeks before Valentine's Day because of quality issues with the meat from its supplier, Russell Hume.
