Café de Paris announces new concept

Café de Paris, which first opened its doors in the heart of London's West End more than 90 years ago, will open new concept Disco54 at Café de Paris, on 12 January.

Disco54 has been created in recognition of Studio 54, which electrified New York’s nightlife in the 1970s and 1980s and welcomed illustrious guests such as Andy Warhol, Elton John and Cher.

Jim Robertson, group operations director at Café de Paris, commented: “We want to capture the same charm and intrigue that made Studio 54 so iconic.

“This is a new era, not just for Café de Paris but for London’s nightlife. Disco54 is all about inclusivity, individuality and a bit of eccentricity, and we can’t wait to welcome all with open arms.

“London’s nightlife scene has changed dramatically in recent years and it continues to be a destination for partygoers from around the world.

“The demand for a more immersive experience is driving the change for the late night economy – it is now not enough for venues to be offering just a great DJ and a standard drinks menu.

“Café de Paris has had many faces over the years and we’re one of London’s oldest venues, but we’ve continued to innovate to ensure we are delivering that unforgettable experience to our customers.

“As a group we have always been committed to the London nightlife economy and continue to invest our efforts into what we believe is the best city in the world.”

Hertford-based independent operator and brewer McMullen & Sons has opened the King's Reach in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.

The site is the latest in a line of 'royal' venues, following the openings of pubs the Prince Louis, the Princess Charlotte and the Prince George.

Heydon Mizon, joint managing director of McMullen, commented: “Several members of our team live in Biggleswade and they have long suggested we should open a pub there.

“After a long search and build process, we are delighted to have finally opened what we think is a great pub that will suit the warm and friendly community locally.

“We hope everyone will be just as happy to see it being open as we are.”

General manager of the King's Reach, Scott Rutterford-Byrne, added: "I am thrilled to be opening McMullen's newest pub. It has been wonderful to meet so many local guests during our recruitment and training days and my team couldn’t wait to open - it is an exciting time for all of us.”
